About This Item
Build it yourself. Give it meaning. This wooden football sculpture is assembled piece by piece using the ancient Chinese Luban mortise-and-tenon joinery system — no glue, no nails, no tools. Just solid wood panels that lock together with precision into a full football form. The assembly process is part of the gift — meditative and satisfying — and the finished ball is a solid wood sculpture that will sit on a desk or shelf for decades. Two premium wood combinations are available. Walnut + Teak pairs amber teak with dark black walnut for a warm, earthy palette; Walnut + Beech sets pale, fine-grained beech against the dark walnut for the boldest, highest-contrast reading of the classic panel pattern.
Why You'll Love It
- Luban Mortise & Tenon Joinery — One of the oldest engineered joinery systems — panels lock together with no glue, no nails, no tools → ancient Chinese craftsmanship in your hands
- Full 22cm (8.7") Solid Wood Ball — The assembled sculpture sits at real display scale → decades of desk presence, not a toy
- Two Wood Combinations — Walnut + Teak (warm, earthy) or Walnut + Beech (high contrast) → pick the palette that fits the room
- Free 20-Character Panel Engraving — A name or a date on one of the panels → the football gift with a personal story
