About This Item

The Whale Magnetic Hourglass is a desk ornament that uses iron powder and a precision magnet to create a never-repeating whale breaching scene. Every flip produces an unique iron powder formation that mimics ocean waves, whale breaches, and sea spray — no two flips produce the same scene. A poseable whale tail is included and can be positioned at different angles within the powder, so the breaching scene changes with the flip and with the tail. A miniature paper boat is included as a display accessory — a charming detail that adds narrative depth to the ocean scene. Two colors are available: Deep Navy Blue for a dramatic, oceanic aesthetic, and Light Gray for a softer, more minimal display.

Why You'll Love It

  • Never-Repeating Iron Powder Scenes — Every flip forms a unique wave-and-breach pattern shaped by the magnet → a kinetic scene that never plays the same twice
  • Poseable Whale Tail — Position the tail at different angles within the powder → you direct the breaching scene
  • Miniature Paper Boat — A display accessory that adds narrative depth → a complete ocean scene, not just an object
  • Deep Navy or Light Gray — Dramatic oceanic or soft minimal display → match the scene to the desk
  • Free 10-Character Engraving — A name or date on the piece → the ornament becomes a gift
